The Feminist Book Society Manifesto: Feminist. Bookish. Curious. Inclusive. Challenging. Kind. Feminist Book Society co-founders Katy Loftus and Eleanor Dryden will be hosting another lively, inclusive and thought-provoking conversation on this month's theme, taken from one of the Society’s key principles: It’s Cool to be Kind Joining them are three authors whose work recognises the value of this principle: Anna Hope, Lotte Jeffs, and Naomi Shimada. They will discuss how best to show kindness to others and to ourselves, how it has informed their writing, and how it could become a defiant or political act. Anna Hope’s debut novel Expectation is explores themes of love, lust, motherhood and feminism, while asking the greater question of what defines a generation. Journalist Lotte Jeffs’ debut book How to be a Gentlewoman weaves powerful life experience with practical advice and a psychological deep-dive into what truly constitutes an emotionally rich and meaningful existence. Model and campaigner Naomi Shimada’s Mixed Feelings: Exploring the emotional impact of our digital habits – co-written with Refinery29 editor Sarah Raphael – explores what the internet might be doing to our minds, bodies and hearts, through wide-ranging essays and discussions featuring a range of perspectives and voices. Tickets are £10/8 Students and Plus cardholders/ £7 for Feminist Book Society newsletter subscribers. All tickets include a glass of wine or soft drink
