Pore over a dazzling array of ceramics, fashion, furniture, glass, jewellery, metalwork, paintings, photographs, sculpture and textiles at the world renowned museum of art and design, with unrivalled collections of artefacts from the past 3,000 years. In the Asia Collection, visitors flock to Tippoo's Tiger, a life-size carved and painted wood figurine depicting a wild cat in the process of eating its human prey. After three years of meticulous renovation, the Jameel Gallery now houses over 400 objects which date from 8th and 9th century Islam while The China (T T Tsui) Gallery houses an important collection of Chinese art dating from 3,000 BC to the present time. The museum has a vibrant programme of temporary exhibitions such as Hats: An Anthology By Stephen Jones, which celebrates the work of one of Britain's most talented and inventive milliners who has worked with Christian Dior, John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood (until May 31), and Magnificence Of The Tsars, which reflects the grandeur of Imperial Russia through the dress and uniforms of the court (until March 29). In balmier months, the John Madejski Garden, an Italianate courtyard which opened on July 5, 2005, is a popular meeting point with its grass lawns and water jets surrounding a central, stone-paved oval. At night, the garden is dramatically transformed thanks to Patrick Woodroffe's lighting design. At weekends and during half term and school holidays, there is a multitude of family-oriented drop-in sessions for parents to get creative with their children.
